Product Description This state of the art coffeemaker lets you fine tune the process from filtering the water you brew with to keeping the brewed coffee at the precise temperature you desire. If you're the impatient type you can grab a cup before brewing is complete (or program your coffee to be ready and waiting at wake up time), and if you tend to be forgetful, this appliance has auto shut off. Seems as though Cuisinart has covered all the bases in this deluxe coffeemaker.
Amazon.com Review Strikingly retro in brushed stainless-steel with black-plastic accents, this 12-cup coffeemaker includes Cuisinart's best brewing technology and premium features for ease and flexibility. The digital clock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing "wake-up" coffee at a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to four hours in advance. Removing the glass carafe from the warming plate automatically pauses the brewing process for a quick pour, and the warming plate's temperature can be adjusted. For maximum flavor, the machine can be set to brew one to four 5-ounce cups or five to twelve cups, and it includes a charcoal water filter. For convenience, a permanent Gold Tone filter eliminates messy paper filters and an indicator-light shows when decalcification is needed. The coffeemaker measures 14-1/4 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 10-3/4 inches deep (including carafe handle) and carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Best Coffee Maker, Cuisinart September 7, 2010 Noemi Nesbitt Best Coffee Maker, coffee brews quickley and tastes better than coffee house brews. Auto shut off is great for busy families. You can also set timer and coffee is ready before you get out of bed. Highly recommend this unit. This is our second one, first unit lasted 8 years before it quit working. Can't beat the price either! Love It...!
Really good cup of coffee! September 6, 2010 Kat I love this coffee maker! Makes a pot of coffee really fast. Coffee isn't bitter so I can cut down on the sweetener I use. I wasn't sure if I would like the black chrome but it looks really cool! I have hard water and I like the idea of the filter. Time will tell if that helps keep the calcium deposits down. Hopefully the cleaning feature will help, also.
looks good /tastes good September 5, 2010 R. Garvey I have not found anything wrong with this coffee maker yet. good coffee, easy to use , looks good on my counter also. The only flaw maybe is I like my coffee extremely hot ( you can choose low, medium,or high temp) high could be hotter for me.
Combat-Tested Cofee Maker September 4, 2010 Gregg W. Frostrom 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like all the features of this coffeemaker; a simple, no frills design, a cone filter which, in my opinion, provides more flavor than basket filter models, and a good pour (how hard is it to make a carafe that does not drip when pouring from a full pot?). But what most impressed me was the dependability of this coffee maker. From late 2007 to early 2010, this coffee maker sat at the coffee station of our unit HQ at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, supporting the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines of Operation Enduring Freedom. Man, did we made some coffee. I mean, 3 pots before noon, and at least 1, sometimes as many as 3 pots after lunch. For one six month rotation, it brewed the midnight shift as well. Alas, as all good things, the heating element finally gave out in March of this year after brewing around 2 and 1/2 years and 4000 pots of coffee. What more can you ask?
Probably the best coffee maker going September 3, 2010 One Hit Wonder When my 14 year old Braun coffee maker finally bit the dust, I shopped and shopped to find a suitable replacement and finally settled on the Cuisinart.
Overall I really like this machine, but there are a few things that I definitely preferred on the old Braun, which is no longer made...I would have bought that same model if I could have. Any product that is used every day and lasts 14 years is pretty impressive to me.
The pros:
Adjustable heat setting. This is nice for those who use cream in their coffee since you can set it to be hot enough so that even after you add cream to your coffee, you still get a good hot cup. If you drink it back, you can dial the heat back a bit so it's not lava hot on that first sip.
Styling - it looks nice sitting on the counter.
Excellent carafe - the carafe pours PERFECTLY...not a single drip, ever. I also like the plastic rim around the top which offers a little protection from breaking.
Adjustable auto shut off timer. The default is two hours, but you can adjust it up to four.
The cons:
As many other reviewers have noted, it is a bit of a pain to pour water into. It's not that bad, but no doubt you need to watch what you're doing or you'll end up pouring water all over the counter instead of into the machine. I haven't missed yet, so I'd call this just a minor annoyance. Plus, the fact that the carafe pours so nicely makes it a little easier to hit the small opening when pouring water in.
Slow brew time - the good old Braun was a lot faster at making a pot. I would say this one might take up to twice as long (just a gut feel since I can't actually time it out against the dead Braun).
Carafe lid - the lid is hard to get on and off. I have worked out a technique to be able to do it fairly easily, but it does not just easily snap into place nor does it come off very easily.
Based on reviews I read about countless other machines, I do think this one might be the best one out there. It's not quite perfect, but it is very good. Oh, and it does brew a great cup of coffee!
